Belt Drive Kit for the Thruxton R

Belt Drive Kit for the Thruxton R

The team over at Free Spirits in Italy has created a Belt Drive system for the Triumph Thruxton R and Thruxton Standard.

There isn't much info in regards to belts used and max HP/Torque ratings, but belts have been used on other motorcycle models with 100+ HP. The final drive ratio does remain the same however, when using this kit.

Pros:

  • Cleaner ( no chain oil, wax, grease, lube splatter)
  • Quieter
  • Lighter
  • Smoother
  • No chain like maintenance of lubing and adjusting

Cons:

  • More work to replace/repair ( no master link on belts so more bike has to come apart )
  • Durability of belt with high HP/Torque riding
  • Final drive ratio adjustment would be more involved
  • More loss of power to rear wheel compared to chain ( this is debated a lot online )
  • Rain or road debris in belt can be an issue

Let us know about your chain vs belt opinions and whether you might try this kit out and why.
